If you’re 1.85 meter (6.1 ft) tall, finding clothing that fit can be a pain in the butt. For 35 years, I have been complaining about this, until I got tired of doing so. I thought: what if I do it myself? And so, with zero experience in fashion, I started reaching out to designers, pattern makers and other people in the industry.
I wanted to create clothing for tall women, made with sustainable, mostly natural materials. I believe great clothing has the power to make you feel amazing and gives you a boost of confidence. For me, great clothing is clothing that fits my body well and shows my body’s strengths – being tall and athletic – instead of hiding them.
To be honest, my first goal with The Johanna was to create clothing for myself that I love. Then, I figured it would be amazing if I can help more tall women who struggle to find clothing that fits their not-so-average beautiful bodies.
So here it is. The Johanna. I am starting off small, but my goal is to add more and more pieces in the future.
